1. How do I order a custom pet portrait?
To order a custom pet portrait, go to the Custom Pet Portraits page, choose your preferred background design, select the print size, upload up to 3 photos of your pet, provide your pet's name, and complete the payment process.
2. Why do you need my pet’s name?
We use your pet’s name as the title of the print. The title appears underneath the image with the year your print is created.
3. Do you only do dog portraits?
No. Our pet portrait designs are suitable for most pets, especially cats and dogs, but can include rabbits, guinea pigs and other furry friends. If you are unsure please email us with your query,
4. Is my print unique?
Yes. While you select the main design background, we often need to move elements slightly to ensure best possible fit for your pet’s image. We also include your pet’s name and memorial dates (if the option is selected), to make your print a unique piece of art.
5. Can I have more than one pet in a single print?
Yes. Up to two is ideal however, we can do three within some of the design templates. Make sure your image files include your pets’ names, and written in the 'Pet’s Name text box' provided when files are uploaded.
6. What kind of photos should I upload?
Please upload clear face shots of your pet with the animal sitting upright. The lighting should be good, and ideally, the pet should be looking straight at the camera. The background of the image should contrast with your pet’s fur colour for clear definition. To get an idea, see our pet image guide which includes the photos provided by the customer and the final portrait.
7. How many photos can I upload?
You can upload up to 5 photos. We will choose the best image from what you have provided for the portrait.
8. What file type and size should I provide?
Png or jpg files provide the best results at a minimum of 1mb to ensure clarity and quality once enlarged. We have used files taken on mobile devices and those a customer has received through Whatsapp. We will let you know if a file size or type won’t result in the best quality print.
9. What happens after I place my order?
After placing your order, we will review the uploaded photos, choose the best one, digitally remove the background, and insert your pet's image into the chosen design. We will ensure the pet is well-placed within the design elements before having the portrait professionally printed. We also send a preview to ensure you're happy with the portrait.
10. What type of paper and inks do you use?
We use UV lightfast inks (fade resistant up to 100 years), on fine art 275gsm etching paper. We work with a fine art professional print company in Auckland, New Zealand to ensure your print is of the highest quality.
11. How long does it take to receive my portrait?
The time frame for receiving your portrait can vary depending on where you live. Once your order is placed and you have reviewed and approved the preview provided, you will receive an estimated delivery time. Local NZ shipping is typically 5 business days, AU allow 5-10 days, international currently takes 10-20 days depending on any known global shipping disruptions.
12. Can I pick up my portrait instead of having it delivered?
Pick up in Auckland, New Zealand, is by prior arrangement only.
13. What should I do if I am not satisfied with my portrait?
Customer satisfaction is important to us. If you are not satisfied with your portrait, please contact us with your concerns, and we will work with you to resolve the issue.
14. Do you offer refunds or exchanges?
Due to the custom nature of our work, we do not offer refunds or exchanges. However, we strive to ensure you are happy with your portrait and will address any issues you may have.
15. Can I order a portrait of a pet that has passed away?
Yes, we understand how important it is to remember beloved pets who have passed. If you have photos that meet our guidelines, we can create a beautiful portrait in their memory. Select the 'Memorial' design option which allows you to add dates as well.
16. Will my print be framed?
No. We don't currently provide framing. We find our customers prefer to have their prints framed locally.
17. Do you use AI to enhance my pet's photo?
No. We prefer the human touch to ensure your pets sits perfectly within the design. We take the photo you provide us and remove the background only. This means we can upload your pet's photo, place it in the design, then manually adjust individual elements to ensure the best fit for your pet. Of course this takes time but it does makes your print unique.
