Choosing the Best Photo for Your Custom Pet Portrait

A great portrait captures your pet’s unique spirit, personality, and charm, creating a work of art you’ll treasure. At Wild Lilli, every custom portrait is crafted with attention to detail, and the photo you choose is important in achieving a beautiful result. We’ve created this guide to help you select a photo that brings out the best in your pet, ensuring that their one-of-a-kind personality shines through in the final artwork.

Here are a few tips to make sure your photo captures your pet perfectly:

  • Perfect!

  • Awesome!

  • Adorable!

  • Images should be in focus

Blurry photos can hide important details. Choose a high-resolution image with sharp focus. If your pet is dark haired avoid dark backgrounds.

  • Choose natural lighting

Aim for even or natural lighting. If the photo is taken in direct sunlight be mindful of shadows that may cover your pet's features.

  • Take your photo at eye-level

Photos taken from above aren't ideal. Try to get down to your pet's height or raise smaller pets for an eye-to-eye shot.

  • All features are showing

Ensure your pet’s head, ears, and any defining features are entirely in the frame so we can highlight everything that makes them special

  • Avoid awkward poses

Photos with your pet in an unusual posture, like lying down or looking over their shoulder, are difficult to position into the design.

  • Too far away

Avoid photos where your pet is far from the camera. A close-up head and shoulders view helps us capture their features fully and clearly.
